Edit: I haven't had a chance to test this but I have been told that you can only save when you are not in an area controlled by the Pedis. If you are in a safe area the option to save returns. I'm not sure on the exact rules of this, but I'll leave this up in case anyone else is confused by it. 2.
each save consists of 4 small files. 1.save. 1.save.upload. 2.save. 2.save.upload. one is an auto save the other is a user created save point, the other ones are upload files that save to the cloud ,and it will always make those .upload files even if you shut off the cloud save option in Uplay settings. these will not work with a pirated copy3. Hi all I've noticed a few times that the game doesn't actually save (even when you press the button in the game menu "save" and "save and quit". Last night I got really frustrated because I was looting chests and removing posters etc. for two hours straight. I saved, or so I thought, and came back to the game a bit later. All progress was lost.Most of the time it does save correctly, but every once in a while it doesn't. It seems to save ok after major events like completing missions, but when you manually save to save loot, skill changes, or upgrades it isn't reliable. Sometimes the next time you load the game you're back at a previous save and have to redo everything. If Save files are there then at a guess either the save file or part of the game install is corrupt. Try an integrity check on the game. If that doesn't find anything try turning off cloud saves, deleting or moving the save files then starting a new game and see if that fixes it.
