The 2022 Ford Transit is the Indiana Jones of passenger vans, and the American hauler has a few tricks up its sleeve. Arguably one of the most versatile in the segment, the van comes with two
The XL trim is the base trim for ALL Transits whether it is a passenger van, CrewVan, or cargo van. The XLT trim is only for the passenger van and it has exterior and interior features that distinguish it from the XL trim. There are some options you can add to the cargo and CrewVan to give you the exterior and interior looks of the XLT
Keep in mind that a Transit is not a solid block. The vast majority of the weight is less than 3' off the ground for all models. The high roof adds about a foot of thin sheet metal and glass to the medium roof, and the air it encloses is still weightless. They have the same roof weight.
The Ford Transit Connect has an estimated range of around 395 miles. That’s only about 20 miles less with Transit Connect. However, if you spring for the optional 31-gallon fuel tank on the Ford Transit, you can extend your range to about 511 miles, which is a significant difference.
High roof advantages: 1. Can have a 2 1/8" thick insulated floor which also allows wiring to cross from one side to the other. 2. With bed platform at 30" and normal upper cabinets, I can sit up in bed without hitting my head on the upper cabinets. 3. Both medium roof and high roof have the same height sliding door.
The Ford also has the tallest interior height option for those of you over 6 feet tall. Ford Transits are less expensive upfront compared to Sprinters and some of the other van options for van life. They have lower maintenance costs than Sprinters. They are easier to service than Sprinters. Parts are easy to come by.

My opinion is that Transit is a disposable fleet vehicle, regardless of options or trim level purchased. Comparing Transit to Econoline is not a very relevant debate IMO. Econoline is like a reptilian. Been here forever, gonna be here forever. Does what it needs to do, most often crudely.
As far as appearance goes, a Transit or Transit Custom equipped with the Trail Package receives blacked-out lower body trim, mirror arms, and wheels. The most drastic difference is the front fascia, however; the Trail trim swaps out the base van’s horizontal strakes and tiny oval badge with Raptor-esque mesh and giant FORD lettering.
This Transit Custom model proved to be a simple, straightforward one-stop choice for buyers of medium-sized vans. It certainly helped that it satisfied a wider variety of commercial needs than any other Transit derivative. Very few rivals can beat either this Ford's practicality or its day-to-day operating costs.
The Ford Transit is available in three lengths, three heights, and two wheelbases. The van is offered in 150,250, 350, and 350 heavy-duty grades and the GVWR ranges from 8,500 to 10,360 pounds
Ford Transit Courier: The smaller a van gets, the smaller the choice of engine outputs usually gets, & with the Courier you have 2 versions of the same 1.5-litre TDCi turbodiesel engine outputting 75hp or 100hp. There is the option to choose a 100hp 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine - again, it's nice to have the choice - but I'd be hard pushed
